One of the UK’s biggest readymix concrete suppliers has opened a new plant on the Fylde Coast.
Hope Construction Materials said it was gearing up to serve the much-anticipated construction boom in the North West.
The £500,000 investment has begun work at Thornton and was given its official opening by Norman Tenray, President of the North & Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce.
He joined Hope Construction Materials’ chairman Amit Bhatia, chief executive officer Chris Plant and other company representatives to formally open the first new concrete production facility to be built by the company since it was formed at the beginning of 2013.
The latest technology has been used in the new plant, ensuring efficient management of delivery vehicles, top environmental performance and ample production capacity.
Since Hope acquired the Thornton site, the firm’s local team and contractors have transformed the operation, and installed brand new equipment for batching concrete.
It is now producing up to 55 cubic metres of concrete an hour, supplying large-volume construction projects in the area, as well as smaller building and DIY projects. The Thornton plant is already successfully supplying a number of new build housing sites and a large utilities contract in Blackpool; and the team is also targeting large coastal and utility contracts within the local area.
Hope Construction Materials regional director Robert Hamilton said: “It’s a real pleasure to see our brand new Thornton plant opened officially.
“This operation, combined with our distribution and sales office at Garstang, is enhancing Hope Construction Materials’ ability to offer a local, expert service for construction contracts of all sizes. Hope’s investment in this plant reinforces our confidence in the economy of this region.”
Norman Tenray said: “This development offers a huge opportunity for the Fylde Coast workforce.
“It sends out a positive message that Lancashire is a fantastic place to do business and will act as a further catalyst to attract inward investment. I enjoyed a fantastic tour of the facility and was incredibly impressed with the innovative approach”.
