A Cleveleys man has put his mark on the New Year by taking over the print shop where he works.

Dad of two Richard Pilling has taken on the franchise of the Cartridge World store in Cleveleys where he has worked for the past 14 years since leaving university.

Richard, who graduated from Loughborough University with a degree in engineering and manufacturing, said it was the obvious step to take when the previous owner decided to step down.

He said: “When Keith Houghton the long-standing franchisee announced his retirement, I quickly decided to put in an offer and step into his shoes.”

Richard, who lives just round the corner from his new business said that over the past few years the sales focus at Cartridge World has been changing.

He said: “While the team here at Cleveleys continues to meet the needs of our retail customers, these days we’re about much more than simply supplying quality, affordable replacement printer cartridges.

“We’ve evolved into the local experts on everything to do with printing and printers with a particular focus on business to business.”

He said that is why he has added print management to the range of services his team provides.

He said the package included a free print audit to assess needs, adoption of a business’ printers, new printers if required, coupled with an automated supply of consumables and ongoing printer maintenance – all for one monthly fee.

He added that research has shown that, beyond the initial cost of a printer, 90 per cent of UK businesses have no idea how much they actually spend on office printing. In fact it could be up to three per cent of annual turnover.

“For a business with a half million turnover that’s £15,000 a year! So there’s a massive potential market for managed print services.

“The service has gone down well at other stores in our network. I see plenty of potential amongst the many businesses, schools and other organisations here in Cleveleys.

“These are exciting times and I’m really looking forward to helping local businesses print more efficiently.”
