FYLDE coast public sector workers are to be balloted over possible strike action.
The Public and Commercial Services Union (PCS) is carrying out a national ballot of members, including civil and public servants, starting on Friday.
Members have until Monday, March 4 to take part and will be asked whether they wish to take industrial action, including strike action. The dispute is over pay cuts, pensions and working conditions.
Fylde workers are also worried about the implications of the transfer of around 1,000 workers from the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) from Norcross to Peel Park.
Fylde branch secretary of the PCS Duncan Griffiths said: “This is obviously a very worrying time for many members. We do not believe there won’t be any job losses in the DWP on the Fylde as a result of the closure.”
But the DWP says there will be no reduction in the number of jobs as a result of the move, which will take place this summer.
