A Fylde company is aiming to put itself firmly in the running for the top equestrian design and build projects in the country.
Equine Planning Solutions (EPS) carries out architectural design and planning projects for people in the racing and showjumping world.
The Wrea Green firm was set up just over six months ago as a one-stop-shop in its field and is part of Preston-based FWP Group.
And this month they have scored a major coup by getting point-to-point legend Richard Burton to join as consultant designer.
The four times national champion will acts as consultant on the many projects EPS is working on nationwide.
Equine Planning Solutions’ principal architect Richard McGonigal said: “We are delighted that Richard has agreed to join the practice, not only does he boast an impressive record as a jockey he also brings with him a wealth of equestrian experience that will further improve our services and ultimately benefit our clients.”
The Equine Planning Solutions team which includes chartered architects, surveyors and planning consultants has been involved in a number of high profile projects at some of the UK’s top racecourses, including at Doncaster, Chester and York, and is now expanding the business to cover private and commercial equine facilities across the UK.
Mr McGonigal added: “The planning application process has changed significantly in recent years.
“It used to be a simple matter of submitting existing and proposed plans but now most applications require a number of supporting statements if they are to be validated and more importantly approved.”
He said with most stable yards, and equine centres being in the green belt, the planning process can be tricky and the company, which employs seven, was set up to use the expertise FWP gained on larger projects such as racecourses, to successfully deliver smaller projects.
