Businesses can put themselves in the spotlight as nominations open for the Wyre business awards.

With 13 categories to go for, the awards, which follow on from last year’s Walk of Fame event, aim to showcase
business and industry in the area.

The finals will be held at Marine Hall, Fleetwood, on Thursday, November 26 at 7pm.

The judging panel comprises Fleetwood Town FC Chairman Andy Pilley,
Susanne Johnston – Chair of Blackpool & Wyre Branch of the Federation of Small Businesses and Marketing Lancashire’s – Business
Development Manager – Tim Dixon.

The Awards are sponsored by RBS and will be a glamourous black tie dinner with
catering by Twelve Restaurant.

Nominations are invited for 13 different award categories to represent all types and sizes of businesses and also to recognise individuals.

These include New Business Award, Retailer of the Year, Apprentice of the Year, and Tourism Event of the Year.

The closing date for nominations is Monday, November 9.

Councillor Peter Murphy, Wyre Council’s Planning and Economic Development portfolio holder, said: “Through our Wyred Up business network we realised that we have so many fantastic companies in Wyre and wanted to celebrate that fact.

“To recognise the success of Wyre’s businesses, from self-employed individuals to multi-national organisations across all business sectors, we developed the Wyre Business Awards.

“We held our first event last year and building on that success the 2015 Wyre Business Awards celebration will be a glamourous Black Tie event with a three course dinner.

“We are really excited about the 2015 Awards and hope that lots of businesses will take part and make nominations. We also hope that we discover even more Wyre business successes that we weren’t aware of.”

Matt Holland, of event sponsors RBS, said: “We
understand that strong businesses are created and
developed through leadership, innovation and collaboration.

“That’s why we are particularly pleased to be sponsoring the Wyre Business Awards – as this award recognises strong local businesses that have demonstrated an understanding of their own customers’ individual needs and preferences.”

There are also a limited number of smaller sponsorship package opportunities available from £200, plus ‘goody’ bags and a raffle at the awards event.

Any companies wanting to promote themselves can get in touch.
