Blackpool young people urged to Get Set to go into business

Blackpool Council has launched a new training programme called GetSet to help young adults in Blackpool and the Fylde Coast to potentially kick-start their own business.

GetSet Blackpool is a six session programme provided free to 18-25 year olds.

The initiative is designed to inform young people about self-employment, starting a business and improving employability skills.

The courses, designed and delivered by Lancashire based Geminus Training, include fun and interactive workshops that will also develop additional skills such as communication, creativity and presenting.

Coun Mark Smith, cabinet member for regeneration, enterprise and economic development, said: “We really want to encourage young people who perhaps are the budding entrepreneurs of the future.

“This programme is a great source of information and support which will help anyone in this age group understand business basics before making career choices.”
