A new business in Blackpool has the world at its feet after its grand opening this week.
World Travel Lounge has launched on Birley Street to become the third travel agent on the road.
The business is an independent but is part of the Midshires Co-op Consortium.
Director Louise Logan said: “The building used to be Vacation Travel, then was a foreign exchange bureau but it has been empty for more than 12 months.
“We had been looking to set up our business for quite some time and had looked at starting out in Cleveleys.
“But then this premises in Birley Street became available and we thought if we have to start in Blackpool it has to be on Birley Street.
“There used to be five travel agents on this street and now with ours launching there are three.”
Fellow director David McDonald, who was formerly a store manager for Dunelm, said: “We cannot wait to welcome members of the public in to discover our great deals and fantastic foreign exchange rates.
“We have a passionate team here at World Travel Lounge coupled with an in-store experience of lounge and coffee area, ipad area to browse reviews and holiday videos as well as our information bar.”
Louise added: “We also intend to take on the LGBT stag/hen market and honeymoons as part of our wide offering.
“Because we are independent and not restricted to any particular supplier, we can tailor holidays to customers needs and I think there is nothing we can’t offer.
“We are the 35th member of the consortium and we have the biggest premises in the UK with three floors. The ground floor is the trading floor.
“We have three directors, all Blackpool born and bred, and four other staff who have between them 47 years experience in the travel sector.
“When we took over the building we had to gut it and start all over again so it has been hard work but we are not going to stand still.
“Once we have established the business we will be looking to expand with a premises in St Annes or Cleveleys where we feel there is an opening.”
