Former BAE Systems worker Barry Davies had worked with the jet makers for 18 years, the last 10 of which had been in the Middle East.

But he had always harboured a dream to have his own business and grabbed his chance when his term in Saudi was up.

He and his wife Karen, of Church Street, have launched their own mobile coffee, smoothies and snacks business Really Awesome Coffee, targeting Blackpool and the Fylde coast. Barry said: “We are really excited and can’t wait to get started. I had been thinking about this for a long time and I felt that the time was right to come home.

“When we came back we went to a franchise exhibition in Manchester and were just blown away by Really Awesome Coffee and their support.

“There are other mobile services, but we feel we offer something different, especially on the food side. I’ve always enjoyed drinking great coffee and eating great food and I was fed up with working for other people and wanted to work for myself.

"The Really Awesome Coffee model enables running a business that combines the two which is perfect for me. And, as a mobile service I can take the business to those who appreciate convenience with quality the most.”

He said he was also attracted by the eco-friendly approach, with solar panels on the roof of the van and recyclable materials.

Karen said: “I was fed up with awful coffee so decided to do something about it. Really Awesome Coffee was the ideal opportunity to do that.”
