Blackpool lights designers eye further exports

One year on from winning a top export award, a Blackpool lighting specialist is targeting even more overseas trade with the launch of in-house designs.

Chelsom, which produces lighting products specifically for the global hospitality and marine interior design marketplaces has been working for two years on creating a new catalogue.

The new lights feature the most modern LED lights to save clients money of their bills and help save the environment.

More than 40 per cent of its Edition 26 range is new and uses the latest trends in finishes and materials as the sector enters a most “exciting time” driven by customer demand for the newest trends.

Company chairman Robert Chelsom said: “In all my years working within the lighting industry never has there been a more exciting time to be designing lighting products. Triggered by fashion cycles, interior trends are moving increasingly faster and in doing so constantly stimulate new design directions when it comes to finishes and materials, which is something we have given careful consideration to.

“Edition 26 has been a fantastic collection to produce - personally I think it’s our most ground breaking to date.

The company, based at Heritage House in Clifton Road, won the coveted Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade in April last year, after demonstrating “outstanding results”, achieving 131 per cent growth in international sales.

It showed export growth particularly in North America, the Middle East and Europe after investing in its international sales team.

Customers include customers such as hotel operators Four Seasons, Mandarin Oriental, Marriott and Hilton and cruise companies such as Norwegian Cruise Lines and the Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, Crystal Cruises and Carnival Cruise Line.
