Blackpool cleaning team cleans up in awards

A year of growth and change at a Fylde coast cleaning company has been topped off with an award win.

Merry Maids of Fylde, Blackpool and Preston has scooped the North Star Growth Award, at the national conference for ServiceMaster Ltd this year.

And the firm’s office manager, Jane Lord, picked up the Employee of the Year 2018 award at the same event.

Merry Maid’s which moved into new premises on the Blackpool Airport Enterprise Zone earlier this year, has been cleaning homes in the area since 2002.

The franchise is owned and managed by husband and wife team, Steve and Nicky Morris and currently employs a total of 29.

Having traded for over 16 years now, the business has high aspirations for the next 12-months and Nicky said they hoped to increase their growth rate once again.

Nicky said: “We would like to take this opportunity to thank our hardworking and conscientious staff for their help in growing the business.

“We are delighted that Jane’s valuable contribution to our business has been recognised across the Merry Maid network in the UK by the Employee of the Year award.

“Jane has been our Office Manager for over six years and is the first point of contact for new customers as well as existing customers. She is calm, professional and friendly which gives the right impression of our business.

“Jane is also totally reliable and we can trust her to run things in our absence.

“This is vital for small business owners to have someone they can rely on to take responsibility when required.”

ServiceMaster said the aim of the awards is not only to recognise the work that goes into franchising, but also to recognise when a business has done something truly outstanding.
