One of Blackpool’s top venues is set to put the glitz into recruitment this week with an unusual staff hunt.

Viva is set to take on 25 staff ready for the summer season and beyond as the group invests more than £200,000 into the complex next door to Blackpool Tower.

Managing director Martin Heywood said it was an exciting time to be joining the company and they were looking for people who would buy in to Viva’s philosophy.

He said entertainment was at the heart of what they do with their cabaret shows and wanted staff who could join their all stars team.

He said: “We are looking for people with personality and so on for our jobs day. We are going to turn it into a kind of audition.

“We are looking for outgoing personalities so when they come among they can have their photograph taken with the showgirls and an interview then we are going to have them up on stage and get them to do something. It’s a little mysterious but doesn’t involve nudity honestly!

“It is a bit of fun, nothing embarrassing, but we want to see is people will fit in. We don’t just want run of the mill people, it would be great if they could buy in to what we are trying to achieve here.

“We hope to take on around 25 people and it is all part of our expansion plans so the jobs will last beyond the summer season.

“We are investing £200,000 on the place. We are building our new box office on the prom which we will run simultaneously with our existing one in Church Street which is a little bit out of the way, and we are putting £70,000 into a complete refurbishment of the kitchen.

“It is all about trying to maximise the potential of the building and business.

“We have brought our recruitment day forward after hearing of the closure of the Paris Casino.

“We contacted their HR team to say that if any of the staff from there wants to join us they can come along on the day and we will consider them.

“We have been going for two and a half years and have come a long way and there is much more potential.

“So people can come down on Thursday at 1.30pm or 2.30pm for the jobs day, or if they can’t make it ,they can email their CV to and we will take a look at them.”

He said roles would include hospitality positions, “bar runners with bravado” office sales positions, plus staff for the restaurant and kitchen.
