Burglars broke into Tesco on Whitegate Drive in Blackpool looking for cigarettes but when they couldn’t get access to them they stole champagne and whisky instead.
It happened in the early hours of yesterday morning and police say£1,300 of booze was taken.
Det Sgt Kathryn Riley, of Blackpool CID, said: “In the early hours of this morning entry has been gained by the roof where an offender or offenders have gained entry to the store.
“It is believed they have wanted to target the cigarettes but because they are locked away they haven’t been able to.
“They have taken a number of bottles of champagne.”
Eighteen bottles of Andre Carpentier were among the items stolen.
Det Sgt Riley asked anyone with information to call police on 101.
