An elderly woman had her handbag stolen by a man who police believe is linked to a series of attempted burglaries in Blackpool.
Detectives have today released a computer generated image (above) of the suspect in a bid to track him down.
He is wanted after an 88-year-old woman was targeted by a man , thought to be in his early 20s, who stole her handbag.
Police say he knocked on the door of her home on Poulton Road, Bispham, offering to carry out work for her.
While she was distracted by her dog barking, he went inside her home and stole her handbag and its contents, worth around £70.
The incident took place between 2pm and 2.30pm on June 24 but police have today released to image after linking the offence to a series of attempted burglaries in the Bispham area.
Detectives believe the same man may be behind a number of similar cases.
Det Con Matt Normanton, of Blackpool CID’s burglary squad, said: “Following this a number of other properties in the wider Bispham are have been targeted but the offender has been unsuccessful in gaining entry.
“Luckily, at the other doors he has knocked on, they have been quite savvy and not let him in.”
The offender is described as white, aged around 23 to 24 and with short fair hair. He wore a grey tracksuit.
Residents are urged to be vigilant. Call police on 101 with information.
