BREAKING: Bank Holiday rail strike called off

Two rail unions have called off industrial action scheduled to start on Bank Holiday Monday.

However, many rail services have already been cancelled on the West Coast Main Line and passengers are being advised to contact rail operating companies for more information.

Members of the RMT and TSSA unions had been due to walk out for 24 hours from 17:00 BST on Monday in a row over pay.

However, they have now reached an agreement with Network Rail.

The RMT union’s desicion to suspend the strike followed this morning’s decision by TSSA members to call off their action.

Virtgin Trains had announced its West Coast Main Line services, linking the region with London and Glasgow, would be cancelled should the strike go ahead.

Passngers are advised to call train operating customers to check times.
