A blood-drenched bare-chested man terrified residents when he walked down a street waving a hammer.
Daniel Donovan repeatedly shouted “I am an animal” as a petrified little boy in the street fled from him.
I’ll take chunks out of you
When arrested Donovan threatened to kill police officers and he headbutted and kicked out at the cage area when put into a police van.
He was taken to hospital for treatment to a deep wound on his hand. Once there, he told officers and medical staff “I’ll take chunks out of you” before trying to bite people. He had to put put in limb restraints and sedated.
Donovan, a 26-year-old father, of Lindale Gardens, South Shore, pleaded guilty to possessing a hammer as an offensive weapon and threatening behaviour.
He was refused bail and remanded in custody for sentence at Preston Crown Court on August 19 by District Judge Huw Edwards sitting at Blackpool Magistrates Court.
