After an 18-year stint in the guest house business they closed their doors and retired in the early nineties. Pat, 77 and Harold, 78 insist they have the anecdote to a happy marriage.

Pat said: “My policy is to tell the truth and that’s it. We’re still blissfully in-love after all these years and we’ve had a really good laugh! We are lucky, we’ve had a good life together and have enjoyed every second.”

The couple received a card from HRH The Queen to mark the anniversary, and were treated to a trip in a Rolls Royce as one of their presents.
