Some 18 months into their courtship they had a small wedding at St Joseph’s Church in Preston and Pat went on to be a club singer before opening guest house Audley House in South Shore in the 1970s.
Pat added: “When I used to be in the clubs singing, Harold always came with me, if I was on form he’d smile, if not he’d sink back in his chair.”
The pair, who have lived in South Shore for the last 25 years have two sons, four grandchildren, one of whom worked at Buckingham Palace for 10 years as a butler, and a great-grandchild.

Pat said: “My policy is to tell the truth and that’s it. We’re still blissfully in-love after all these years and we’ve had a really good laugh! We are lucky, we’ve had a good life together and have enjoyed every second.”
The couple received a card from HRH The Queen to mark the anniversary, and were treated to a trip in a Rolls Royce as one of their presents.
