Further education teacher Shelley Glay who is one of the organisers said: “It has been hard work over the past couple of months but we have recruited enough leaders, carried out all the DBS criminal records checks and got all the child protection policies in place.

“The children desperately need a youth club in the area.

“We are going to have junior leaders, to give the older ones responsibility and to help them learn life skills.

“They will be able to work towards that from the age of 14. It will stand them in good stead for later in life.

“The youth club will be held on a Wednesday evening from 5 to 7pm at the Horsebridege community centre, Horsebridge road and on Saturday afternoons from 3 to 6pm at the Argossy community centre on Argossy Avenue.”

“We want our club to be right at the heart of the local community so we are hoping the community will come along to see what we can offer.

“We have had a lot of help from local businesses donating raffle prizes.

“We did some research
into what people would like best as prizes and we have all sorts thanks to their great support.”
