“I’m not stopping until I look like Tom Selleck.”
That was the pledge for Blackpool FC’s Ian Evatt as the defender and his team-mates plan to grow moustaches throughout the month of November.
The stars are getting behind the Movember campaign which aims to raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men.
And when skipper Barry Ferguson suggested Pool players throw away their razors and shaving foam this month, they were only too happy to get involved.
Ferguson said: “A lot of players did it last year and being for Prostate Cancer it’s for such a good cause, so we all thought we should get involved.
“I asked the boys and they were all up for it, so we’ll be growing full moustaches.
“As soon as I mentioned it, everyone was right up for it. Hopefully we can raise a lot of money.
“It will look stupid, but the cause is more important than that.”
Over 1.1m people took part in the event in 2010 raising £48m, and they are hoping to do even better this year.
Full back Evatt is getting right into the spirit of things and aims to emulate Selleck, star of hit TV show Magnum PI..
“That is what I’m aiming for, I want a massive moustache by the end of this,” he said.
“It’s been itching already, but I’ll be letting mine go all bushy if I have to, I’m looking forward to it.
“I think I’ll make it look good, to be fair.”
