“He said schools need to work harder to prepare young people for the digital future in terms of both hard and soft skills. We do that, and we do much more depending on who the target audience is.”

Sham has a background spanning 30 years in the tech talent business, preparing and placing people up to CxO level in the city.

He said: “I am mindfulness and NLP trained and a Fellow of The Institute of Recruitment Professionals, so people can rest assured they are dealing with a credible company. I have trained more than 150 recruitment consultants in what makes good candidates and clients. Businesses know that recruiters are the glue between the end client and the job seeker and advertise the vast majority of jobs. I can show people how to become the recruiter’s number one choice, from a client or candidate perspective.”

The firm works with students, either independently, or via schools and FE establishments to explain how the recruitment process works, how and where to look for jobs and how best to prepare themselves in terms of CV’s, cover letters and interviews.

It also helps SMEs review their complete talent acquisition process from beginning to end, making sure they attract and retain the right talent analysing job adverts, competitors and using data to improve the process.

Sham said recruitment consultants often charge what are perceived to be high fees and Silicon Talent can help select suitable recruitment consultants as they are independent.

Sham added: “I was at the most recent meeting of the Blackpool Business Leaders Group and there are big plans in place to nurture and retain local talent as digital transforms the Blackpool economy over the coming years– but it won’t happen until employers’ challenge and update their hiring processes, and candidates learn the required skills. Saying ‘We’ve always done it this way’ is a sure-fire way of becoming a dinosaur.”
