But after more than an hour of searching, crews had not found anybody in difficulty in the sea.

Following discussions with Lancashire Police, the rescue mission was called off and all teams stood down.

It was concluded that no cause for concern was found.

It follows a call out just after 3am on Friday (February 21), when rescue crews saved a person from drowning near Central Promenade.
