Blackpool has more award-winning hotels, bars, clubs and restaurants than New York, it has been revealed.
And the resort has been awarded more Certificates of Excellence by travel website Trip Advisor than Madrid and Amsterdam.
A total of 351 hospitality businesses in the town received the award, up from 301 in last year.
Blackpool ranked second after London for having the most certificate-winning accommodation, and fourth on the UK list for all hospitality and attractions.
Now in its fifth year, the awards celebrate excellence in hospitality, and are given to around 10 percent of businesses, listed on TripAdvisor, that consistently achieve great traveller reviews on the site.
Travellers from all over the world can submit reviews and ratings of hotels, bars and restaurants.
Certificate of Excellence winners include hotels and bread and breakfasts, eateries and attractions located all over the world, with Blackpool scoring higher than New York, Madrid and Amsterdam.
And to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the awards, Trip Advisor is inducting five-time award winners into a Hall of Fame.
These winners consist of only two percent of businesses on TripAdvisor, and they will receive a special Hall of Fame certificate and window sticker.
There are a total of 3,799 Hall of fame winners in the UK, including 53 in Blackpool.
To qualify as a Hall of Fame winner, a business must have won the award in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015.
One of the Hall of Fame winners is the Pembroke Hotel, on King Edward Avenue.
Co-owner Michael Higgins said:“We are thrilled to be recognised as a Certificate of Excellence Hall of Fame winner.
“Winning this award year after year has had a very positive impact on our business, helping us stand out from the competition and putting us on the map.
“This award is a true source of pride for the entire team at the Pembroke Hotel, and we would like to thank all of our past guests who took the time to complete a review on Trip Advisor.”
