Blackpool Illuminations: Where to park, what time it will start and finish and what roads will be closed

What time will the Switch-On event start and finish?

Gates usually open on Tower Headland from 4pm on Switch On Night, with the event set to finish at approximately 10pm.

Actor and international singing star Alfie Boe, who was born and raised in Fleetwood, will pull the switch to trigger the start of the 2018 Illuminations season.

The Illuminations switch-on party is once again set to rock the Tower headland with a range of top music names, taking place on Friday August 31.

Diversity, Rae Morris and HRVY will all perform at the event, including a number of local up and coming acts, such as local band The Sound, Tiger S, Kyle Passmore and X-Factor contestant Chloe Rose Moyle.

The Switch-On Golden Circle is also new for this year, and will allow a limited number of people to get a close-up view of the show in an exclusive Golden Circle section on the Tower Festival Headland Arena.

Tickets for the enclosure are sold on a first-come, first-served basis and are available at £10.00 each.

How long with the Blackpool Illuminations be on for?

The Blackpool Illuminations will take place from Friday August 31 to Sunday November 4 2018.

Alongside the traditional Illuminations season, their will also be the LightPool projections, which transform Blackpool Tower into a sea of light, colour and sound, as a splendid digitally-mapped multi-media show is projected onto the building.

Road closures

Wednesday August 29 and Thursday August 30

The Promenade will be closed to traffic from 1.00am to 5.00am between Chapel Street and Talbot Road to prepare the Tower Festival Headland for the Illuminations Switch-On event.

Friday 31 August - Illuminations Switch-On

The Promenade will be closed to traffic from 10.30am on Friday August 31 to 12.30am on Saturday 1 September between Chapel Street and Pleasant Street to enable the Illumination Switch-On event take place.

Where to park

There are a variety of car parks in Blackpool, including short-stay car parks, long-stay car parks, coach and commercial car parks, parking for motorhomes and parking for motorcycles

which are in easy reach of Blackpool Illuminations.
