Blackpool Illuminations 2018: A busy Lights season ahead
Ride the Lights will see the Illuminations switched on early and traffic banned from the Promenade from 7-10pm on Tuesday, August 28, as thousands of cyclists, some dressed in an array of dazzling bulbs, ride through the world-famous display.
The Lights Switch-On will start on the Tower Festival Headland (on the Prom in front of the Tower) at 5pm on Friday, August 31, with the main show starting at 7pm.
Global pop icon Britney Spears will perform her ‘Britney: Piece of Me’ show there the next night. Tickets are still available at ticketmaster.co.uk/britneyspears
The Illuminations will be on until Sunday, November 4, while the free Prom-based Lightpool show will return from Sunday, September 9.
The World Fireworks Championship will also return in September, on Fridays 7, 14, 21, and 28, where crowds will gather on the Prom to watch countries compete for the world title.
Nickelodeon Slimefest, a ticketed event, will be held at the Pleasure Beach Arena on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, October 20, 21, and 22, with live performances, games, characters, and slime, music, and mayhem.
All shows are sold out but there are competitions to win tickets running at nick.co.uk/slimefest
Then, from Thursday to Saturday, October 25-27, the award-winning Lightpool Festival is back during the school half-term, with performances, light-based art installations, the return of the illuminated tram parade, and a collaboration with the BBC Philharmonic on Thursday, October 18.
