The £9.8m zone scheme, based around Blackpool Airport is set to get its launch in April and will take years to come to full fruition, but is aiming to create 3,000 jobs in the Squires Gate area.

The zone would be able to offer incentives for companies relocating there and creating jobs and represents one of the most significant economic opportunities for Blackpool in the future.

The event will take place at the North and Western Chamber of Commerce’s Fylde Coast office, close to the airport on Tuesday, March 29 from 4pm to 6pm.

It will also give Blackpool-based businesses a chance to ‘meet the neighbours’ for networking, to get to know each other and create opportunities for future business.

Rob Green, Blackpool Fylde and Wyre Economic Development Company’s Head of Enterprise and Investment, will give an update on the new enterprise zone.

Also in attendance will be Stephen Chalcraft, a principal lawyer from the commercial real estate team of Slater and Gordon, one of the Chamber’s patron members, to talk about how the public sector can engage to create more effective enterprise zones. Mr Chalcraft leads the team, focusing on regeneration and development, as well acting for both the public and the private sector and specialising in both complex development and regeneration schemes.

Following the session, Mr Chalcraft will be available for anyone who has any general questions or who wishes to have a one-to-one conversation.

Babs Murphy, the chamber’s Chief Executive said: “Our networking events are always an excellent opportunity for companies to meet each other, find out what they do and possibly discuss working together in future.

“This one promises to be another interesting evening for those who attend, not just for the chance to meet other companies but also to hear about the enterprise zone.”

The free event is open to all but guests must register beforehand.
