A couple who met at Blackpool Tower celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary in style.
Margaret and Malcolm Knowles marked their 60-year milestone with a cruise around the Mediterranean.
The couple met when they were 20 and married at St John’s Church in Blackpool on June 14, 1958.
Margaret was born in Powell Avenue, Blackpool, as the youngest of three children who all achieved their diamond wedding anniversary while Malcolm – one of two children – was born in Mansfield Woodhouse before moving to Blackpool as a young boy when his parents bought a boarding house on Dickson Road .
The couple have two children, Dale and Sheri, and four grandchildren, Graham,Daniel, Carley and Lexi.
Sheri said: “They bought their first house on Drakelowe Avenue and made it into a very happy home .
“We have amazing memories of our childhood.
“Dad has always had motorbikes so they spent a lot of time visiting places and making memories and friends along the way.
“Dad worked at BAE on the Lightning and TSR 2. “He also had his own business as an electrician for many years.
“Mum worked at Mullards making valves for televisions. She was also a dressmaker, silver service waitress and barmaid and worked at many of Blackpool’s hotels and casinos serving famous faces .
“They say their secret to a happy marriage is to love each other unconditionally .
“Mum and Dad have instilled in us their commitment in how to achieve a wonderful successful marriage in always working at it together.”
