A Blackpool couple who ran guest houses and social clubs have marked 60 years of wedded bliss.

Stan and Joyce Frankland of Halton Gardens, Marton celebrated their diamond wedding on Thursday, September 21 with a slap up meal and a luxury overnight stay at the Dalmeny Hotel.

Daughter Debbie Farley said the couple, both 84 and originally from Rochdale, had lived in Blackpool for almost 40 years having moved here shortly after they were married .

She said: “They ran a guest house in Keswick Road in the early 1980s then moved to a hotel in Cocker Street a few yeas later.

“They sold the hotel and dad moved into work as a steward in the working men’s clubs where mum helped him.

“He was at the Central Working Men’s Club and the H&A Club and retired as steward of the Guards Club so, as you would expect, he is very well known in Blackpool.”

The couple have two children, Debbie and her brother John Frankland and four grand children – Debbie’s Lewis and Laura and John’s Rosie and Maddie.
