Create Construction can now begin the redevelopment of the vacant site in the city bound by Rochdale Road and Sharp Street, Manchester, with a 221 bedroom Hampton by Hilton hotel.

The site, strategically located next to the New Cross Neighbourhood Development Framework and the NOMA regeneration plan will be the first Hampton by Hilton hotel for Manchester.

Construction is due to start in November 2016 and upon completion it will create around 40 jobs within the hotel.

The proposed £30M development, designed by Tim Groom Architects, Manchester, has been designed with the environment in mind and boasts a contemporary façade sympathetic to the surrounding buildings and has low carbon emissions and low energy demands.

Paul Mathison, Create Developments’ managing director said: “Manchester has undergone considerable regeneration over the last 10 years and there is a recognised requirement for high quality international hotel brands in the City Centre.

“We believe that our development will significantly enhance the quality and appearance of this area, of one of the city’s key access corridors, by redeveloping this long standing derelict site.”

Tim Groom, managing director of Tim Groom architects said: “It is a testament to Manchester’s ambition and commitment to regeneration that a brand like Hilton wants to come forward and commit to this part of the city.

“We have designed a building that draws on the history and context of this part of Manchester and expresses the industrial heritage of the city.

“This area of the city is undergoing a huge transformation and it’s great to be a part of it.”

Create Group is set to start work on the 131-room Blackpool Hampton by Hilton on the site of the former Palm Beach and Bourne Hotels in mid September.

Director Gill Mathieson said: “There has been an issue with asbestos on the site and we wanted to have the work co-incide with the demolition of the nearby Warwick Hotel.

“It has been delayed but it will be worth the wait.”
