Orazio, 76, who owns the Cut and Shave gentlemen’s hair shop on Squires Gate Lane is today celebrating 15 years in business in Blackpool after returning to the resort after some time living in his native Sicily.

He originally came to England in 1961 and said he and his wife Nina prefer the cooler summers.

He originally opened a unisex salon nearby and had it blessed at the time by Fr Dennis Blackledge who was the parish preist at Sacred Heart in Talbot Square, but he later decided to concentrate on men’s hair.

He said: “Unisex works well for ladies but the gentlemen prefer a men’s only salon.

“We are very busy here and when the new supermarket open across the road I expect we will get more customers.

“We do all sorts of styles from traditional to modern – you have to go with the fashions of the day.

"I love Blackpool and would like to thank my wonderful customers over the years. I have always had fathers and sons coming here, now the sons are bringing their fathers! ”
