Birthday party drive shame of Blackpool mum

A mother was more than three times over the alcohol limit when she drove home from a child's birthday party with her two-year-old son in the car.

Emma Henstock aroused other motorists’ concern when she appeared to be asleep with her head slumped to the steering wheel as she signalled to turn.

She became abusive when another motorist took her keys and a police officer said her son did not appear to be strapped into his seat.

Henstock, 27, of Straithyr Close, Bispham, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol and being drunk in charge of a child.

She was sentenced to do 100 hours unpaid work for the community, banned from the road for 26 months and ordered to pay £85 costs with £85 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.
