Developers interested in buying Garstang’s Business and Community Centre have submitted bids for the property.

And Wyre Council has announced these will be considered by Wyre’s Cabinet when it meets at the Civic Centre, Poulton, tomorrow.

The news comes as town Mayor Coun Graham Salisbury is preparing to make a last minute appeal to Wyre to retain some or all of the High Street centre for community use.

Coun Peter Gibson, leader of Wyre Council, said: “Should cabinet be minded to accept an offer, it will be the first stage in what can often be a long and difficult process. Past experience tells us any final sale could take up to or beyond 12 months.

“During that period we will work with our existing business tenants and Garstang Town Council to secure alternative premises.

“We are mindful that there are a number of community activities taking place in the existing building and I look forward to continuing positive discussions with the Garstang Town Council Working Group to explore and evaluate all possible options.”

The cabinet meeting, which is open to the public, starts at 6pm
