Bid made to raise STI awareness
Health professionals are working with schools and organisations to get involved with the Chlamydia Challenge, which is bidding to help reduce stigma around sexually transmitted infections and help improve the health and wellbeing of young people.
Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust’s Contraception and Sexual Health (CaSH) service is raising awareness of the importance for sexually active young people to be tested for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and in particular chlamydia.
The team has been working with partner organisations such as schools, youth groups and colleges, challenging them to either host an event or create a display encouraging young people to be screened for chlamydia.
Sue Roscow, community sexual health education practitioner said: “Chlamydia is the most common STI amongst young people.”
