Anchorsholme councillors Tony Williams (right) and Paul Galley want to hire a special machine to blitz any damaged roads on their patch.

They are due to speak to council highways chiefs next week about the plan and hope to put £3,000 from their ward budget into the scheme.

It would follow similar action in 2011 when equipment was also hired to repair all the potholes in the ward in just one day.

Coun Williams said: “I had heard about these all-in- ne machines and managed to track one down at a construction company in Chorley.

“We agreed a price and in just over a day managed to fill all the major potholes in Anchorsholme.

“Unfortunately, we are having to look further afield this time but I have made contact with one particular firm who can do the same job over a weekend.”

Coun Galley said: “At the moment we are having to report potholes every week as there is a large number of heavier vehicles in the area while United Utilities work continues in the park.

“Money is tight but so far Coun Williams and I have managed to get a large part of North Drive completely resurfaced, also Rockville Avenue which was particularly bad and we are pleased a large section of Luton Road will soon be resurfaced.”

Coun Williams is now urging other councillors to put parts of their ward budget into hiring the machinery so potholes in more areas of the town could be repaired.
