The inaugural Walkies for Wards event will feature optional fancy dress on four legs in aid of local patients, with prizes for the best dressed.

The walk is in the Hall grounds from noon to 2pm and is being held in association with Lytham Embroidery and Pets at Home, Blackpool.

Kila Redfearn, head of fundraising at Blue Skies, said: “We are extremely excited about this event and really looking forward to welcoming our new four-legged fundraisers.

“The Hall is a lovely setting and we have some lovely treats for the best dressed pooches.

“Dog owners really would be barking mad to miss out.”

The event follows charity dog walk from Fairhaven Lake to St Annes last weekend, which raised £274 for the St Annes Carnival charity fund.

All money raised today will go towards enhancing patient care across Blackpool Teaching Hospitals.

It costs £5 to register. Further information at www.bfwh.nhs.uk/blueskies.
