He was given a 12 months conditional discharge and ordered to pay £450 compensation with £85 costs plus £15 victims surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Prosecutor, Andrew Robinson, said Lines had previously had to leave the property on Bristol Avenue. On September 14 a neighbour saw him return. He forced open the door and took a fridge-freezer.

Gerry Coyle, defending, said Lines had previously shared the address, but, unknown to him, one of his co-tenants lost his job and told the landlord he was leaving. The landlord then changed the locks.

Lines said he made arrangements to collect his fridge-freezer from inside,
but no-one turned up to let him in.
