A SEX offender on the run in Blackpool has been returned to prison to serve three more years inside.
Police issued a public warning after 30-year-old Gary Wolstenholme broke the terms of his release on licence.
He had been serving a sentence for raping a woman on the sandhills at St Annes in July 2002.
He was living at Stanmore Avenue, South Shore, when he offered to take his victim home from a nightclub after recovering her stolen handbag.
But he drove her to Starr Gate, dragged her on to a deserted area of the beach by her hair, and threatened her with a brick before carrying out the attack.
Wolstenholme gave himself up to police on Wednesday and has now appeared before Blackpool Magistrates.
The court was told Wolstenholme, who has 75 previous convictions, disappeared from his fixed address in Accrington in breach of his licence, which lasted until 2015, when police arrived to question him about a driving matter.
He will now serve three more years in prison. Police issued a warning to Blackpool residents not to approach Wolstenholme after the registered sex offender disappeared from his address.
