Awards shine spotlight on Wyre business

The search is on for the shining examples of business excellence in Wyre.

The 2018 Wyre Business Awards are open to entries with 21 categories to be contested making it the biggest edition of the awards.

Companies and individuals have until September 10 to submit entries, with judging set to begin on October 1.

The titles will be revealed at the awards evening on November 29 at the Marine Hall in Fleetwood.

Organisers said the awards, the fifth year it has been held, will give firms the chance to raise their profile across the Fylde and help to inspire others to excel in the area.

The categories include New Business Start Up of the Year, Small Business of the Year, Corporate Social Responsibility Award, Civil Society Award of the Year, Employer of the Year Award, Digital, Creative and Media Award, Outstanding Woman in Business, Green Business of the Year, Professional Firm of the Year, Service Business of the Year, Manufacturing Business of the Year, Growth Business of the Year, Retailer of the Year, Rural Business of the Year, Construction Business of the Year, Healthiest Business of the Year, Exporter of the Year, IT Business of the Year, Innovation Business of the Year, Wyre Business of the Year and Special Recognition for Business and Service in Wyre.

The special recognition award will be chosen by the Council chief executive, Garry Payne, and is not open for entries or nominations, while the Wyred Up Business Network board will choose the winner of the Wyre business of the year awards from among the short-listed entries.

Councillor Michael Vincent, Portfolio Holder for Planning and Economic Development, said: “I would like to encourage all businesses in Wyre to enter for a Wyre Business Award and celebrate their successes.

“It’s our fifth year and it’s going to be the biggest and best event yet.

“Wyre represents businesses of all shapes and sizes and we want to showcase those and support you in celebrating in the biggest business event in Wyre.”
