She said: “As High Sheriff I am committed to recognising the many young people who are doing fantastic work in their communities, making them safer and happier places to live.

“They give selflessly of their time to support and help their peers and neighbours of all ages. We want you to tell us about someone you know who is doing this, someone deserving of an award.

The award is again sponsored by BAE Systems. Operations director and site director at Samlesbury, Ian Wood, said: “We know from previous entries across the years that there are a great number of young people in the county who make an outstanding contribution to the communities in which they live.

“It is on that basis, that we are tremendously proud to support these awards and extremely keen to encourage people to put nominations forward.”

Chief Constable Steve Finnigan, of Lancashire Police, said: “This award highlights the contribution that young people can make towards supporting people in Lancashire by reducing vulnerability and building community resilience.

“We want our young people to feel engaged, valued and that they have a voice in how we make our county a better place to live.

“We know through our Volunteer Police Cadets that young people have a lot to offer and I am really pleased to play a part in making sure they get the recognition and support they deserve.”

The scheme is being managed by the Lancashire Partnership Against Crime on behalf of the High Sheriff.
