GIVING young people a chance at success has seen Farmer Parr’s Animal World pick up a special award.
The Fleetwood attraction was given the award as part of the annual Wyre Stars of Tourism event held at Thornton Little Theatre.
Farmer James Parr said he was delighted with the award. He said: “It’s immensely rewarding and we’ve had some real success stories at the farm.
“Most young people arrive with little confidence and no work experience.
“It’s amazing to see them transformed into more confident and capable young people.
“I would recommend other businesses to offer placements to local youngsters.
“With youth unemployment at an all time high – it is more important than ever.
“The vast majority of young people are super, bringing fresh ideas and input to the farm.’
Recently, Farmer Parr’s Animal World has welcomed students from Myerscough College, Blackpool Sixth Form College, Fleetwood High School and Hodgson High School.
The farm has also worked alongside the Prince’s Trust on several projects as well as Highfurlong and Woodlands special schools.
