Art hub offers chance to look behind scenes

Independent artists have joined forces to co-ordinate the chance to see work from screen printing to glassware manufacture.

Christmas gifts will be on sale helping to support the work of local designers and craftspeople.

Venues taking part include the Old Rock Factory on Deansgate, the Grundy Art Gallery and Blott Studios.

Duncan Hodgson, director of arts organisation Aunty Social, said: “Blackpool has a wealth of creative and artistic businesses and this is a fantastic chance to see what they’ve got to offer.

“What’s more you’ll also be doing your bit to support the creative community by shopping local and putting money back into the pockets of local designers and makers.”

The Grundy will be open until 7pm, while other venues, which also include Charabanc Shop, Colette Halstead Glass and Beau Belle Boutique, will open until 8pm.

Screen printer Robin Ross said: “The Rock Factory Studios and Celery Studios are delighted to welcome visitors into our home in the heart of Blackpool to experience the independent art scene in action.”

The Old Rock Factory is used by a number of artists and is also the base for the annual Sand, Sea and Spray street art festival.
