A man training to join the Army ran across the top of a police car to the cheers of a crowd.

Martin Gregson told the woman police officer who had parked the car that she should arrest him because he had no electric, no money for breakfast and she would be doing him a favour.

Gregson, 23, of Chapel Street, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly.

He was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £85 costs plus £15 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Presiding magistrate, Carole Roberts, told Gregson: “You say you are training for the Army.

“The Army may look at this incident quite seriously and you will have no-one to blame but yourself if they say they do not want you.”
