Armed pair in Lytham bank raid

MASKED raiders are being hunted after threatening guards during a terrifying cash-in transit robbery in Lytham.

The two men, both wearing balaclavas, pounced as the Group 4 security guards were delivering cash to Santander on Clifton Street at 7pm on Tuesday.

Police say at least one of the attackers threatened a security guard with a crowbar while the other guard was waiting in the vehicle.

The guard handed over a cashbox to the attacker before they fled.

It is not known at this stage how they fled or if they used a getaway car.

Neither of the guards were injured in the incident, police say.

The raiders have been described as wearing dark clothing.

Witnesses reported a police helicopter was circling overhead within minutes of the 999 call.
