£50,000 hope for new roof at club
Fleetwood Rugby Club, based on Melbourne Avenue, says the condition of the roof will soon mean it will be unable to offer any activities in the function room.
But critically, because the roof extends to the club’s changing rooms, it would also be unable to function as a competitive sports club.

The club has approached the Rugby Football Union for a £50,000 interest-free loan which, if approved, could be paid back over 15 years.
Steve Spencer, club president, said: “We have never needed to raise anything like this in our history but we have no choice, because parts of the roof have become degraded and we had several leaks last year.”
The club, established on the site since the 1950s, is looking to replace the current roof with a modern fibre glass structure.
A full pitched roof would cost around £100,000.
