An angry boyfriend smashed windows in a Lytham pub after he was locked out of the venue.

Lee Ashworth had argued with his girlfriend, who worked at The Ship and Royal, and was furious because he could not get his bicycle, which was inside the pub.

Ashworth, 34, of Lytham Road, Warton, pleaded guilty to causing damage on September 26.

He was given a 12 months conditional discharge and ordered to pay £495 compensation, £85 costs, a £150 court charge plus £15 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Patrick Nelligan, defending, said after leaving the pub for a cigarette Ashworth returned to find he was locked out. His bicycle was inside and it was a long way home.
