After a fantastic Gang Show, many groups in Blackpool District take the opportunity to walk the Lights

They may literally be on our doorstep, and known world wide for their colour, imagination, and sparkle, and although they receive a million of visitors every year, but for some of the youngsters in Blackpool it is their very first taste of this brilliant experience.

So off went the 7th Blackpool Cubs, Scouts, leaders and parent helpers, wrapped up well against the cold.

They first boarded a tram at Starr Gate.

But while everyone was enjoying the sites and sounds, an adult Cub leader Mark Bonney had the very special moment by being invested in front of the group, and was witnessed by other passengers on the tram.

The investiture included the Adult to Say the Law and Promise of the Scout Movement which every person says when they join scouting from young to old.

Then as a member of the Scout Movement he receives several badges to wear, including the World Wide Badge, County/District Badge, Name tape of his group, and the most cherished part: their necker to say that they belong to that particular group

The group then disembarked from the tram at Gynn Square, and walked the rest of the Lights, stopping at the tabloids to this time invest a group of Cub Scouts.

Then it was chips all round. It was a very proud moment for everyone concerned.

At the same time the 45th Blackpool Scout Group decided to do it the hard way walking the six miles of those brilliant Lights.

They had a great time with lots of fun, lots of selfies and, of course, those famous Blackpool chips again!
