Amber gets the green light to be ring bearer

Michael Yearsley, 56, and Andrew Coupland, 63, will be counting on 10-year-old Amber as the ring bearer on their special day.

Personal carer Michael said it was Amber or no one for the occasion.

He said: “I wouldn’t have chosen anyone else to carry the rings.

“She means so much to Andrew and me and it is brilliant that she can be part of the celebrations.”

The couple, who have dated for 15 years, got the golden retriever when she was a puppy.

Andrew says she won’t be daunted by the experience adding: “She can cope with anything that is thrown at her.

“There will be 60 people at the venue, as that is the maximum we can have, and she won’t panic about the crowd watching.”

Michael and semi-retired charity worker Andrew will be tying the knot on August 18 at Lytham Hall and Michael, who previously worked for Cunard Lines on the QE2, said the staff at

Lytham Hall were more than happy to be having Amber being allowed in to be the ring bearer.

He said: “They have all been fine with it. I think they looked at us weirdly at first because we were requesting our dog as the ring bearer but they said it’s the first time they will have done something like this and they couldn’t wait to see it.”

Paul Lomax, deputy manager at Lytham Hall, said it will be a great day for the couple and the hall was happy to oblige to their unusual request.

Paul said: “It’s going to be wonderful for them. We have met them on a few occasions and they are a lovely and lively couple.

“When we received the initial request from them for Amber to be the ring bearer we were unsure as we had not had that before and usually animals are not allowed it but we were more than happy to accommodate for their big day.”
