FROM taking home a bottle of Tom Cruise-breathed air to writing why they love St Annes – residents and visitors alike have been enjoying the quirkiest new shop in the town.
The Caravan Gallery has set up home on St Annes Square and has been inundated with visitors keen to take a look at its unique photos of the Fylde coast – and add their own pictures and stories into the mix.
Artists Jan Williams and Chris Teasdale have been encouraging residents and Open golf visitors to make the gallery their own, writing on the walls, adding pictures to maps and creating unique souvenirs – including a bottle of “Tom Cruise-breathed air”, a nod to the rumour the Hollywood superstar has been spotted in the resort.
The pair have been blown away by its success, and Jan said: “We’ve had different people coming in each day pinning things to the wall and things to our ‘overheard in Lytham St Annes’ wall.
“They’ve also been making peculiar souvenirs and we’ve had the town crier Colin Ballard in to see us.
“Everyone loves it and thinks it’s a really good idea.”
The mobile Caravan Gallery – a part of the Revealed art festival for The Open – is also parked outside the shop, displaying Jan and Chris’ photos from their travels.
The gallery will remain in place until 3pm tomorrow, when a closing party will take place and prizes will be dished out for the best contributions.
