The Fylde coast community interest company – which has its head office in Wesham – was set up in 2012 and started off taking over the running of Bispham Intermediate Care, on behalf of Blackpool Teaching Hospitals Trust. It has since grown to include a therapy service, an intermediate care centre in Preston and – with the Eric Wright group – opened Bispham Gardens care home at the old Bispham nurse-led unit site, on Ryscar Way. Bispham Gardens offers nursing, continuing health care, palliative and dementia care. It also has a cafe, hairdressers and nail bar – open to the public. Paul Maynard cut the ribbon to officially declare it open at the anniversary party, although the first patients arrived a few months ago.

As a community interest company, Spiral Health’s staff own the company, and money made goes back into benefiting the community.

Tracey Bush, chief executive, said it had been a great anniversary celebration.

“Bispham is really important to us, because that’s where started off. We are really excited to get Bispham Gardens up and running.”
