It was a case of food, glorious food for Blackpool’s West End star and former Nancy, Jodie Prenger, when she spent her Valentines’ evening at The Ship at Elswick, with her boyfriend.
Jodie, who won voters’ hearts in BBC TV’s I’d Do Anything, to seize a role in the musical Oliver! has discovered that it’s a fine life at The Ship.
Jodie, who will be seen at Blackpool Grand Theatre later in the year in the Monty Python spoof musical Spamalot, grabbed a spoon to dive in to one of The Ship’s much-loved Sharing Sundaes.
The Ship treated the couple to some bubbly, to keep the Valentine’s night on-song and crew member, Jack Mellodew, was over the moon when the singer and actress declared him to be an excellent waiter.
The Ship’s general manager, John Bentley, said: “We were delighted to have Jodie here and know that she enjoyed the food and relaxed atmosphere. We definitely consider her our mate and what else can we say, given her role in Oliver, but ‘you can go, but be back soon’!”
The Ship’s crew member, Penny Gladwin, is also celebrating becoming the first Fylde girl to sport a milk moustache, as featured in the US ‘Got Milk’ campaign that has taken the States by storm and involved stars such as Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Hudson and Beyonce.
Penny gained her milk moustache in the run up to National Dairy Week (February 21-27), which The Ship is celebrating with a selection of chef’s specials for starters, mains and desserts.
Included in the menu until Sunday February 27, will be a minted melon sabayon, fillet of beef stroganoff in a rich cream sauce and served with pilau rice and dessert lovers will have choices such as an individual ice cream sundae, with Smarties, Jelly Tots, Maltesers and chocolate muffin pieces.
Mr Bentley said: “If anyone wishes to get their own milk moustache, we will try to capture it on camera.”
