To support the family a group of pals, including Sam’s sister Lisa Jones and fitness instructor Maxine Garrett, took part in the sponsored six kilometre-long Muddy Manics event at Burrs Park in Bury on Sunday.

Maxine, 37, of Broadway, said: “We were determined to reach our target of £1,500 but amazingly we beat it and raised £2,200.

“All that money will now go to Anthony and the children and hopefully they can all go on a lovely holiday.

“It has been a terrible time for the family, with the children losing their mum and Anthony losing his wife.”

Maxine added: “The Muddy Manics was a great challenge – there was a river to cross, ropes to climb and at one stage we had to jump about on space hoppers. Then we had to do the course a second time!

“Now we want to do it again next year and help another family.”

Sam left behind Dalton, two, Holly-May, nine, Phoebe-Lea, seven and 11-year-old Billie-Jo. Since she died her parents – Sharon and Peter - family and friends have rallied round to help.
