Ales well that ends well at saved Fylde beer festival

The three day event starts on Thursday, October 27, and will this year take place at Fylde Rugby Club, Blackpool Road, Ansdell, after the normal venue, Lowther Pavilion , was unavailable due to refurbishments..

As well as 80 cask ales plus ciders and perries, and live music on the Friday and Saturday nights, festival goers will have the chance to support Lytham RNLI which has been selected as the festival charity.

Everyone will can donate cash and/or unused beer tokens to the cause.

Festival Chairman Paul Smith said: “I would like to welcome everyone to the ninth Lytham Festival, the festival that nearly didn’t happen.

“Fortunately, the kind people at Fylde Rugby Club heard of our plight and offered us the use of their splendid building, so here we are and we thank them immensely!

“We have tried yet again to get the best selection of cask ales, ciders, perries and world bottle beers that we can get out our hands on. There are around 80 casks to choose from, 16 ciders and perries and fridges full of world beers to keep up with the punters’ unquenchable thirst.

“I would also like to thank our friends from Lytham Brewery, Windmill Homes, Lytham Life and Style, Taps pub in Lytham and Number 10 Ale House in St Annes who have helped us through sponsorship.

“The Branch also thanks the Blackpool and Fylde Rail Users’ Association for sponsoring a one off beer, named aptly “Woody’s Express”in honour of their friend and member (and CAMRA stalwart) Dave Wood, who sadly passed away earlier this year.

“The beer selection will amply demonstrate the wide range of flavours that real ale has to offer.”

The festival will open at 5pm on Thursday and noon on Friday and Saturday, with closing time at 11pm.
